What is kinesiology?
Kinesiology comes from the Greek word “kinesis” which means “motion” or “movement”. This is related to physical as well as mental and spiritual “movement”.
If body, mind and soul are in balance, our life energy can move freely – it is in flow – we experience a deep sense of well-being and we can use our potential freely and completely.
Kinesiology is a holistic method for physical, mental and spiritual health empowerment. It helps to release blockages, become more stress-resistant and improve well-being and performance.
Kinesiology is a synthesis of Far Eastern empirical knowledge (meridian system, 5-elements, acupressure etc.) and modern Western sciences such as chiropractic, brain research and psychology.
Integrative Kinesiology combines kinesiology with the client-centred approach of humanistic psychology.
Muscle Testing
Muscle testing is the main “tool” we use in kinesiology. According to the guiding principles of kinesiology, no one knows better than one's own body how a problem arose, what sustains it and how it can best be solved.
The muscle test can be used to find out whether energy is flowing freely in the body or whether the energy flow is disturbed. It is not the strength of the muscle that is tested, but rather the change in its tension in response to a stimulus, e.g. an acupressure point or a thought.
The kinesiologist applies light pressure to the outstretched arm while the client is standing, sitting or lying comfortably. If the muscle is energetically in balance, it will withstand the pressure. If a relevant stimulus is tested and the muscle does not withstand the test pressure, the lack of tension shows that the body is reacting to the stimulus with stress.
Stress or negative thought patterns cause us to react inadequately in certain situations, make unfavourable decisions, feel exhausted or experience pain. Often, we do not even know where the shoe pinches. The possibility of kinesiology to communicate with the body with the help of muscle testing, to name stress factors and to discover hidden solutions helps us to fulfill individual wishes, achieve our goals and results in sustainable well-being.

Treatment
A kinesiology session normally lasts 60 - 90 minutes. Usually, a change is noticeable already after the first session - something has started to move. However, it is advisable to plan three to five sessions and then carry out an assessment of your situation in order to decide together on the further course of action.
The session is done sitting, standing or lying down and always with clothes on.
As mentioned above, Integrative Kinesiology follows a client-centred approach, i.e. every session is individually different. However, we can distinguish between 5 phases in a kinesiology session:
1. Collecting: capturing topics, determining priority
In the first phase we identify issues, situations or symptoms that are currently preoccupying you or preventing you from being happy. In addition, we carry out the clarification tests, which give us clues to subconscious aspects of an issue with the help of the muscle test. The aim of the collecting phase is to set a priority for the session.
2. Researching: clarifying, exploring, recognising.
The second phase of the session revolves around recognising the causes of the disharmony for the priority determined in the first phase. With the help of the muscle test, hindering behavioural and/or belief patterns are identified and it is clarified when, where and how they were formed. This often leads to an aha- experience.
3. Planning: giving yourself a new direction
The third phase brings the focus to the present moment and involves setting a goal. Together we define the direction you want to go and what the next step towards your self-realisation is.
4. Balancing: energy balancing, setting basis for implementation
The aim of the fourth phase is to bring the body energies into balance in order to clear the way for the implementation of the goal. This is done by means of various kinesiological techniques and depends on the topic and is very individual.
5. MOVES: realisation, integration
In the final phase of the session, the connection to your every day life is deepened in order to realise the goal. This supports the step into autonomy and creates a sense of empowerment and achievement.

Brain Gym - introduction to learning kinesiology
Brain Gym was originally developed by Dr Paul Dennison for children with learning difficulties at school. He believed that there is no such thing as an inability to learn, but rather a blockage. Today, this programme is used in over 80 countries.
Brain Gym is based on the assumption that movement of the body gets the brain fit and is therefore gymnastics for the brain. Brain Gym includes a series of lively, fun and invigorating exercises that can be incorporated into everyday learning without any extra effort. With the help of Brain Gym exercises, blockages are released and the central functions of the brain are integrated, allowing the full learning potential to be realised.
In this one-day course you will learn
- what Brain Gym is
- the biological requirements for learning
- different activation exercises
- the three dimensions of the brain
- the four different learning types
- simple Brain Gym exercises to support yourself in everyday life

Acupressure - well-being to the point
Acupressure therapy aims to influence the energetic potential of the human being. The energy flow inside the body is accessible from the skin through certain cavities, depressions and entrances. These particularly suitable places on the skin, the acupressure points, are located on the meridians (energy channels). The aim of the treatment is to reach and modulate the flow of energy.
Acupressure can be practised by anyone interested and can be used to treat symptoms of acute and chronic diseases.
In this evening course you will learn
- what a meridian is
- the 14 main meridians of Traditional Chinese Medicine
- the triad of health
- different activation exercises
- how to test muscles
- the “pause lock”
- how to treat everyday symptoms with acupressure points
